The role of the accountant is evolving in today’s increasingly digitalised business environment. They will be increasingly sought to provide both specialised services and holistic business advice.
 

Early to mid-career Singaporeans who are keen to deepen their skills in accountancy and have relevant working experience can receive financial support through the SkillsFuture Study Award. This is a S$5,000 award which can be used to defray out-of-pocket expenses associated with the accountancy course taken. There is no bond to serve.

 

Applicants should: 

  • be Singaporeans with at least 3 years of work experience in the Accountancy sector;
  • provide proof of admission to the selected course of study;
  • have not completed course of study at the point of application;
  • demonstrate commitment to deepening skills in the sector via the application form and supporting documents;
  • have a track record of contributing to learning and training of self and/or others;
  • preferably be nominated by the employer. Employers should provide reasons for nomination, details of nominee’s work performance and potential for advancement in the company/sector, and explain how the course of study will help the nominee fulfil current and future job requirements;
  • provide a letter of recommendation or testimonial from current or former employer;
  • preferably work in an Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) under the Singapore CA Qualification Programme (For the list of ATOs, please click here);
  • not be a previous recipient of any SkillsFuture Study Award, government scholarship, government award, or full sponsorship provided by their company or external entities for the selected course.


Priority will be given to applicants who are:

  • taking a Supported Course. (The list of Supported Courses is in the next section) Applicants taking other courses (excluding conferences, seminars and workshops) will be considered on a case-by-case basis; 
  • able to complete the course within 2 years; 
  • taking courses that cost  at least  $ 5,000  (after deducting applicable funding, such as grants, subsidies, awards, scholarships, sponsorships etc.).


Note: Public officers are not eligible for the SkillsFuture Study Award.  The Public Service is committed towards the skills deepening of public officers, and government agencies offer a range of training and development schemes to support the skills upgrading of public officers. As such, public officers are encouraged to apply for the in-house schemes instead of the SkillsFuture Study Award.

Submit your application via the online portal and take note of the application number.

B.  Supporting Documents


Upload the supporting documents onto the online portal:

  • CV/Resume stating your work history (work period, designation, organisation, job responsibilities);
  • Employer’s nomination, reflecting work performance, potential for advancement in the company/sector, and how the course of study will help the nominee to fulfil current and future job requirements (if applicable);
  • Record of professional development or training of self and/or others;
  • Academic transcript/certificate;
  • Details of course, if not listed under the section,  Supported Courses;
  • Proof of course/training acceptance from training provider including receipts for training/examinations, and documentation on completed modules/examinations;
  • Breakdown of course fees and proof of payment of course fees;
  • Breakdown of expected total course fees, sponsorships or other funding and the total nett amount you will incur;
  • Relevant documents from organisations on sponsorship (if any).

 

  • Evaluation of applications will take 6 to 8 weeks after the closing date. During this time, SAC may request for additional information.  
     
  • Applicants who have met the eligibility criteria do not automatically qualify for the SkillsFuture Study Award. They will be assessed on their work experience, and the relevance of the proposed course in supporting the development of their career.
     
  • Only shortlisted applicants will be notified. SAC reserves the right not to disclose the reasons for approving or rejecting any application.
