Accountancy Ecosystem

The accountancy sector comprises two key segments: Accounting Entities (AEs) and Professional Accountants in Business (PAIBs). AEs provide professional accountancy services (primarily auditing and taxation advisory services) as well as advisory services (such as corporate finance, internal audit and risk management).

AEs comprise three main groups: the Big Four firms; Small and Medium-sized Practices (SMPs) that audit Public Interest Entities (PIEs); and SMPs that do not audit PIEs.

Big Four

The Big Four global accountancy firms have 1,500 to 2,500 staff and they offer a comprehensive range of professional accountancy services. They are:

Deloitte Singapore
Ernst & Young Singapore
KPMG Singapore
PwC Singapore

Small and Medium-sized Practices

There are more than 700 SMPs in Singaapore.

Helping to nurture new talents are five Singapore universities and four polytechnics that offer accountancy degree programmes. There are also at least 15 private institutions that offer accountancy diploma and degree programmes.
