Asia Pacific's leading Business Valuation conference, IVAS-IVSC Business Valuation Conference 2020, is in its 4th edition this year. Ms Indranee Rajah is the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office. She is also Second Minister for Finance, and Second Minister for National Development. 

Ms Rajah is the Leader of the House for the 14th Parliament. She has been the Member of Parliament for the Tanjong Pagar Group Representation Constituency (GRC) since 2001.

She was in practice as a lawyer and Senior Counsel before joining the Government.

Under her law portfolio from 2012 – 2018, she co-chaired the Committees on Family Justice, the formation of the Singapore International Commercial Court as well as the Committee to Strengthen Singapore as an International Centre for Debt Restructuring. She also co-chaired the Penal Code Review Committee whose recommendations led to major amendments of the Penal Code, including greater protections of women and the vulnerable.

In her first tour of the Education Ministry from 2012 - 2015, she led the Applied Study in Polytechnics and ITE Review (ASPIRE) Committee resulting in SkillsFuture, a national movement to align education with economic demand, career guidance and lifelong learning. In the second stint from 2018 - 2020, Ms Rajah chaired UPLIFT – the “Uplifting Pupils in Life and Inspiring Families Taskforce”, an inter-agency team convened in 2018 to strengthen support for students from disadvantaged families.

Under her finance portfolio, Ms Rajah co-chaired the Working Group on Legal and Accounting Services, a sub-committee of the 2016 Committee on the Future Economy, the recommendations of which are aimed at transforming the legal and accounting industries in Singapore and catalysing the internationalisation of such professional services. She oversees infrastructure Asia, the Singapore government platform that connects infrastructure demand and supply in the region.

In the Prime Minister’s Office, Ms Rajah oversees the National Population and Talent Division and assists Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean on population matters.


Harsha is a transaction advisory specialist and has more than 20 years of experience with EY in our Southeast Asian offices working in Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) as well as in the Assurance business.

Harsha specializes in valuations, financial modelling, mergers and acquisitions and restructuring.  He has led numerous engagements relating to a wide range of clients including private businesses, investment banks, private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds, public listed companies and statutory boards. The nature of these engagements he has led includes provision of advice relating to mergers and acquisitions, due diligence reviews, valuations, financial modelling, debt restructuring and litigation support.  He has significant experience across Asia having advised on numerous, complex, cross border transactions and investments.

Harsha also plays an active role within EY and has several core responsibilities. He is the Asia-Pacific Transaction Advisory Services Leader. He pioneered and led the Valuation & Business Modelling practice in the Far East and has been a member of EY’s Global Valuation and Business Modelling Steering Committee. He is regularly consulted on various valuation related issues.

Harsha also worked with a number of family owned businesses advising them on corporate restructuring, unlocking values as well as optimum strategies for carving out businesses as part of succession planning.

Alistair Darling was UK Chancellor of the Exchequer – the UK government’s chief financial minister - from 2007 to 2010. Prior to this, he held a number of Cabinet positions, being one of only three people to have served in Cabinet continuously since Labour was elected in 1997.

He entered Parliament at the 1987 General Election in Edinburgh Central and, following the 1997 General Election, he entered Cabinet as the Chief Secretary to the Treasury. From then on he served as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions (1998-2002), for Transport (2002-06), for Scotland (2003-06) and Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (2006-07).

In June 2007, Prime Minister Gordon Brown appointed him Chancellor of the Exchequer, against the backdrop of the most turbulent and far-reaching economic crisis the world had seen for 60 years. He introduced the measures needed to avert a collapse of the banking system, and played a central role alongside other political and financial leaders in restoring stability to global financial markets.  

Alistair was appointed to the House of Lords in 2015.  In 2012 he authored the book ‘Back from the Brink: 1,000 Days at Number 11’ which documents the British government's handling of an unprecedented global financial catastrophe. He holds a number of leadership roles in the public and private sectors including as Honorary President of Chatham House; as Governor of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research; and as a member of the Board of Directors of multinational bank, Morgan Stanley.


Mr. Piyush Gupta has been Chief Executive Officer and Director of DBS Group since 2009.

DBS is a leading financial services group in Asia, headquartered in Singapore. Recognised for its global leadership, DBS has been named “World’s Best Bank” by several global publications like Euromoney and Global Finance. The bank is at the forefront of leveraging digital technology to shape the future of banking, and was also named “World’s Best Digital Bank” by Euromoney. In addition, in 2019, DBS was listed among the top ten most transformative organisations of the decade by Harvard Business Review.

Prior to joining DBS, Piyush had a 27 year career at Citigroup, where his last position was Chief Executive Officer for South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Piyush is Vice-Chairman of the Institute of International Finance, Washington. In addition, he is a member of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Task Force on Digital Financing of the Sustainable Development Goals, Singapore’s Advisory Council on the Ethical Use of AI and Data, and the McKinsey Advisory Council. He also sits on the boards of Enterprise Singapore, Singapore’s National Research Foundation, and the Singapore’s Council for Board Diversity. Piyush is a term trustee of the Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA).

Piyush has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University, India and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM, Ahmedabad.

Piyush was named one of the world’s top 100 best-performing chief executives in Harvard Business Review - 2019 edition of “The CEO 100”. He was named Singapore Business Awards' Outstanding Chief Executive of the Year in 2016. In 2014, he was named as the Singapore Business Leader of the Year by CNBC and in 2013, he was accorded the CEO Leadership Achievement Award for Singapore and Asia Pacific by The Asian Banker.

Sajjad Akhtar

Sajjad Akhtar is the Executive Chairman of PKF-CAP LLP. PKF-CAP LLP was formed by a merger between Pannell Kerr Forster LLP and Cap Partnership thereby bringing together the combined resources of two firms in Singapore.

Sajjad was formerly a Senior Partner of Arthur Andersen, Singapore and worked with the firm for 27 years. Sajjad joined Arthur Andersen in London Office in 1975 and transferred to Singapore in 1980. He has extensive attest and consulting experience with clients ranging from large multinationals to small and medium growing enterprises operating in a diverse range of industries. Several of his SME clients went on to listings through Initial Public Offerings.

In advisory work, Sajjad has led numerous assignments relating to business valuation. In addition, he has extensive experience in claims and dispute consulting and litigation services including testifying in court as expert witness. He has assisted / advised in various types of disputes, including construction claims, minority rights issues, business valuation, commodity future trades, professional negligence, breach of directors fiduciary duties, lender liability claims and partnerships dissolutions.

Sajjad has significant experience in corporate insolvency and recovery services having been appointed to several high profile assignments over the years. He has successfully advised businesses on recovery strategies involving a combination of asset sales, divestments and restructuring of debt and equity so as to reconstruct balance sheets of businesses resulting in viable going concerns.


Amit is the Founding Partner of Singapore based Jungle Ventures that invests and helps build tech category leaders from Asia. Jungle invests across all early stages of start-ups and has 40+ investments in Singapore, Indonesia, India, Australia and other hotbeds of entrepreneurial activity in Asia. Amit brings 20 years of experience in go-to-market strategies and corporate development for start-ups and corporations alike. His corporate life gravitated around Asian market development for public listed tech giants such as Progress Software Corp (NASDAQ:PRGS) and startup experience is dotted with founding and working for startups mainly spearheading new business/ product roll-outs in the region. A Kauffman Fellow(Class 18) Amit has also presided as Vice Chair on the Board of Business Angels Network South East Asia (BANSEA) and currently sits on the Advisory Council for Ethics in AI & Data by the Singapore Government.




Leonard is a partner within the Financial Advisory of Deloitte Southeast Asia. He has more than 25 years of advisory experience in business valuation, M&A strategy and transaction advisory. He advises clients across the Southeast Asia region, particularly in Singapore and Malaysia. Leonard has clients ranging from start-ups to large conglomerates. The many years of work experience have given him a broad perspective and deep understanding of the various aspect of M&A transactions and valuations. 

During his professional career, he has advised numerous clients on valuations for M&A transactions, financial reporting requirements, regulatory compliances and shareholder value analyses. He has also assisted many technology-based companies in their fundraising journey and intellectual property valuations. Leonard has provided his expert opinion of values and damages on several high-profile financial litigation cases in Singapore and Malaysia. 

He is active in his professional body communities. Leonard is a committee member of the Institute of Valuers and Appraisers Singapore and the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) in Singapore.

Sarita Digumarti

Sarita Digumarti is the Head of Academics & Co-Founder and COO of Jigsaw Academy, a Manipal Global Investee Company. A specialist in Analytics, Consulting, and Outsourced Services and Management, 

Holding an MBA in Finance followed by an MA in Quantitative Economics from Tufts University, Sarita has spent over 20 years working as a data scientist helping clients across diverse sectors including retail, health-care and financial services, both in India and the US, and as an EdTech entrepreneur

Sarita now focuses on both education and new frontiers in the data science space. She is an expert educator who designs and delivers programs for senior management audiences, university programs, and individual learners, and provides strategic consulting help on building tech and data skills and teams for a wide variety of enterprise clients.


Peter Kua is currently Head of Data Science and Analytics in REV Media Group (formerly known as Media Prima Digital). His responsibilities include finding ways data can be used as a competitive advantage as well as identifying new business opportunities with data.

Peter was also instrumental in driving the National Big Data Analytics (BDA) Initiative under the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in the areas of thought leadership and industry development. He played a key role in developing the first National BDA Framework that delivered strategic recommendations / action plans to achieve the National BDA vision.

Peter has extensive tech-related experience in various roles: Big Data / Data Science Strategy, Technopreneur, CTO, Project Management and Software Development. 

His qualifications include BSc and MSc in Electrical Engineering, USA, and competing on Business Analytics and Big Data, Harvard Business School in 2018.


Edwina Tam

Edwina is a Southern Region Valuation and Modeling (V&M) Leader based in Hong Kong, specializing in business and intangible asset valuations and corporate reorganization for both public and privately held entities involving mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, financial statement reporting including purchase price allocation under HKFRS/IFRS and US GAAP, tax reorganization, and litigation support.

Prior to her specialization in business valuations, Edwina focused on tax and estate planning for small medium enterprises for six years and provided services in personal, corporate and trust tax, and tax planning.
Edwina has over 20 years of international experience covering North America, Hong Kong and China.  Her industry experience includes private equity, financial services, insurance, telecommunications, oil & gas, healthcare, retail food, alternative power, retail pharmacy, manufacturing, and real estate.   

Edwina is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CA, CPA), a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CBV) and an accredited member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA). 

She is a member of the board of directors of the International Institute of Business Valuers (iiBV) and serves on the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)/International Valuation Standards Council (IVCS) Taskforce focused on improving valuation practices in the APEC region.


Dr. Li Xiaoli is the Head of Machine Intellection and a principal scientist at Institute for Infocomm Research, Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). He is co-director of KPMG-A*STAR joint lab and adjunct full professor at Nanyang Technological University. He is a member of Information Technology Standards Committee (ITSC). 

In research, he has served as senior program committee, Chairperson and panelist for top AI conferences and workshops in the world such as AAAI, IJCAI, World Artificial Intelligence Conference, and top data analytics conferences such as KDD and ICDM. 

In data analytics and AI domains, he has published more than 200 papers, and received 6 best paper awards and 2 best Performance awards. With rich translational experience in working with industry, Dr Li has led over 10 R&D projects in collaboration with industry partners across sectors, including leading aerospace companies, banks, telecom companies, retailers, insurance companies, professional service companies etc.



Aswath Damodaran is the Kerschner Family Chair Professor of Finance at the Stern School of Business at New York University.  He teaches the corporate finance and valuation courses in the MBA program. He received his MBA and Ph.D from the University of California at Los Angeles. His research interests lie in valuation, portfolio management and applied corporate finance. He has published in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics and the Review of Financial Studies.
He has written four books on valuation (Damodaran on Valuation, Investment Valuation, The Dark Side of Valuation, The Little Book of Valuation), and two on corporate finance (Corporate Finance: Theory and Practice, Applied Corporate Finance: A User’s Manual). He has co-edited a book on investment management with Peter Bernstein (Investment Management), has a book on investment philosophies (Investment Philosophies) and one on “can’t miss” investment strategies, titled Investment Fables. He also has a book on the relationship between risk and value, Strategic Risk Taking, which takes a big picture view of how risk management affects value. His newest book is titled Narrative and Numbers: The Value of Stories in Business and is about how to connect storytelling to valuation. 

Aswath was a visiting lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1984 to 1986, where he received the Earl Cheit Outstanding Teaching Award in 1985. He has been at NYU since 1986, received the Stern School of Business Excellence in Teaching Award (awarded by the graduating class) in 1988, 1991, 1992, 1999, 2001, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2013, and was the youngest winner of the University-wide Distinguished Teaching Award (in 1990). He was profiled in Business Week as one of the top twelve business school professors in the United States in 1994 and was elected as the most popular business school professor in the US by MBA students across the country in a 2011 survey by Business Week. In 2012, he was chosen as one of the top ten business school professors in the world by Poets and Quants, and his blog, Musings on Markets, was selected by the Times of London as one of the top ten stock market blogs in the world. 

Vishal Sharma

Vishal is a Deal Advisory Partner in KPMG Singapore and focused on providing M&A and Valuation Advice.  Prior to joining KPMG in 1998, Vishal worked in the capital markets division of JM Financial in India, advising major Indian corporations on their fundraising exercises.

Vishal has over 23 years of corporate finance experience focused on providing M&A, capital market transactions, and valuation advice across various industries.  He has advised on numerous private and public sector acquisitions, divestments and valuation services in the Asia Pacific region. 
Vishal is an Associate Member of the Institute for Chartered Accountants and an MAS capital markets services (advising on corporate finance) licensed representative.

Vishal has been actively involved in cross-border transactions across the region.  He has recently led transactions within the financial services, consumer, industrials and real estate sectors in several SE Asian countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Myanmar.

Vishal has advised a number of large corporations including Unilever, Heinz, Courts Plc, Macquarie Telecom, Del Monte Asia Pacific on their acquisitions and disposals, as well as on numerous mid-market transactions.  He has also advised on a number of high-profile transactions in Singapore in recent years including WBL Corporation on their unsolicited takeover offers from Straits Trading Company and United Engineers, the controlling shareholders of CK Tang on their takeover offer for the company, and Pacific Internet on their hostile takeover offers from MediaRing and Connect Holdings.



Mr Jamesy Laya, CVA

Jamesy is a Partner at KPMG and leads the valuation practice in Singapore. He has over 20 years of experience providing corporate finance advisory services to clients, advising on debt and equity financing, business and intellectual property valuation for investment decisions, trade transactions and M&A, restructuring and financial reporting. Jamesy advises businesses in various growth stages from start-ups to large public companies and sovereign wealth funds, in a wide range of industries across the Asia Pacific region.

Prior to KPMG, Jamesy was with the Commodity Structured Finance team at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and an investment house under the San Miguel group of the Philippines.

Jamesy holds a Master of Business Administration from IESE Business School in Spain and a Bachelor of Science in Management Engineering from the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines. He is a Chartered Valuer and Appraiser (CVA) with the Institute of Valuers and Appraisers, Singapore (IVAS) and is a member of the IVAS Professional Development Committee and the Advocacy & Engagement Committee.




Peter Joos is an Associate Professor and currently the Chair of the Accounting and Control Area at INSEAD. Peter also served on the faculty of Baruch College, MIT Sloan School of Management, and Chicago Booth School of Business. 

Peter holds a PhD in Business and an MSc in Statistics from Stanford University. His research focuses on the role of accounting information in capital markets (e.g., how analysts assess and model fundamental firm risk) and has been published in top-tier accounting and finance academic journals. 

Prior to (re-)joining INSEAD, Peter joined Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong in 2006 to head the valuation and accounting team in the Asia-Pacific Equity Research Department. In 2011, he relocated to London to become Global Head of Valuation and Accounting in the Equity Research Department. During this tenure, Peter was part of the Global Equity Research management team and served on regional Stock Selection Committees. He also led a team that carried out bespoke fundamental and accounting analysis to guide client investment strategies. 

Peter served as an elected member (2012-2019) and co-chair (2015-2017) of the Capital Markets Advisory Committee (CMAC) that advises the International Accounting Standards Board on user implications of its intended standard proposals.



Poyan Rajamand

Mr. Rajamand is a co-founder and CEO of Barghest Building Performance (BBP), an award-winning energy efficiency technology company delivering software based optimization solutions to clients in commercial and industrial real estate sectors. 

By combining advances analytics, energy management expertise and attractive financing options BBP has grown to a regional company with partners and offices in Singapore, China, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.

Prior to starting BBP, Mr. Rajamand worked as a Management and Strategy Consultant at McKinsey & Co., advising clients on an array of challenges including energy and Green Financing related matters.  Mr. Rajamand has also real estate investment background and was a founding member and Director in Singapore River One - a Public/Private partnership that brings a wide range of stakeholders together with the goal of creating precinct level improvements.

Singapore is currently in the forefront of Green Building Movement thanks to progressive government policies and foresight by the private sector. The development of the sector has led to creation of companies developing exciting new technologies in this space. With Barghest Building Performance being one of these companies, Mr. Rajamand has deep network and intimate knowledge of established and nascent technologies in the Green Building Space.

Mr. Rajamand holds a Masters in Engineering from EEIGM (France), an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Management (USA) and is a Singapore Certified Energy Manager (SCEM).


Ai Leng is a Partner with EY’s Transaction Advisory Services team, focusing on business valuations and financial modelling. She is also one of the trainers for the Valuation and Business Modelling teams in the ASEAN region.

She has been involved in numerous engagements, ranging from valuation of companies, businesses, employee stock compensations and intangible assets for financial reporting, tax purposes, mergers & acquisition or litigation support. Her engagements include cross-border deals across ASEAN and United States for a diversified portfolio of clienteles. Her clientele spans from various industries, including hospitality & tourism, telecommunication, infrastructure, technology and etc.

She has also conducted valuation review work for over 100 companies that are listed on Singapore Stock Exchange for financial reporting purposes.

Dan Chi is the Asian ESG Specialist at Schroders, as part of the 20-strong Schroders ESG team. She is based in Singapore to support the ESG integration of APAC investment teams and policy engagement on ESG. She serves as the Vice-Chair of the Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC). She is also an Adjunct Faculty at Singapore Management University teaching sustainability metrics to postgraduate students.
Dan Chi has specialised in ESG in Asia since 2010, when ESG was in its nascent stages regionally. A Chartered Accountant, she started her career in KPMG before joining a dedicated sustainability consultancy, where she worked with corporates and investors on integrating sustainability into strategic decisions. Prior to joining Schroders, she served as the ESG specialist in an asset management firm supporting investment teams across asset classes in global ex Japan. 
Dan Chi read Accountancy and Environmental Economics for her bachelor's and master’s degrees respectively. She was also trained at United Nations University on global change and sustainability by leading practitioners from institutions such as The World Bank and Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).



Dr Ming Tan joined the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore as Managing Director of its new subsidiary, IPOS International in January 2020. In her role, Ming directs the strategic growth and oversees all operations at IPOS International which houses over 100 intellectual property experts. 

Ming has over 20 years of experience in bridging and delivering successful public-private partnerships. She was previously Head of Stewardship of the COMO Group, a Singaporean portfolio of lifestyle companies operating in 14 countries worldwide. Her responsibilities spanned philanthropy, sustainability, brand and new business development, data protection, and corporate affairs, with a shared focus on common vision, brand integrity, stakeholder engagement and long-term value creation. Before this appointment, Ming was Senior Consultant with Interbrand London and Singapore, specialising in brand strategy and valuation. 

A Rhodes scholar representing Singapore, Ming earned her doctorate from the University of Oxford, and her bachelor's and master's degrees from Stanford University.


Tim Heberden is an M&A Valuations and IP Advisory Partner at Deloitte Asia Pacific where he specialises in quantifying and optimising the value of IP assets. He has valued tech, data, brands and other intangibles for purposes as diverse as litigation, M&A, IP financing, compliance, insolvency and strategy determination. 

Tim is listed in the IAM Strategy 300 – the World’s Leading IP Strategists. He is the technical author of the RICS Guidance Note on the Valuation of Intellectual Property Rights and is author of a chapter on royalty determination for ‘International Licensing and Technology Transfer: Practice and the Law’. He has acted as an expert witness in matters before Australian courts, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Board of Review.

Tim is a CA ANZ; MBA; Registered Business Valuer and Fellow of RICS, and Certified Practicing Marketer.


Richard Stewart OAM is a Corporate Value Advisory partner with PwC. He has been with them for 34 years in Australia, Europe and the USA, completing his first valuation in 1992. During his career, Richard has worked in Sydney, Canberra, New York and London. Since 1996, Richard has specialised in financial advisory services providing expert advice in valuations, corporate advisory and mergers and acquisitions. He was admitted as a partner of the firm in July 2000.

Richard was Chair of the NSW Regional Council of the ICAA and was the founding and longstanding chair of the Business Valuation Special Interest Group of that Organisation. He also served on the ACT regional council.

Richard’s expertise in valuation and financial analysis has been recognised externally by his appointment as an Adjunct professor in this area in the Business School of the University of Technology, Sydney and also his membership of the Australian Valuation Standards Committee (previously Board). 

He holds a BEc, MBA, FCA, FCPA, SFFin, FAICD and is an accredited Business Valuation Specialist with CAANZ.



Kevin Foo joined Fund Singapore as its Chief Investment Officer, bringing with him extensive experience in VC investment and start-up/entrepreneurial ecosystem to the management team. Kevin oversees the investment portfolio and development of investment policies to deliver strong outcomes for the group and its various subsidiaries. 

Through his stints in the DARPA-, In-Q-Tel equivalent agencies here in Singapore, he managed investment portfolios that received interest and funding from established VC entities such as Alibaba Ventures, Real Ventures and Mark Cuban Ventures. His strong technical and corporate governance background also allowed him the opportunity to collaborate with various international public and private enterprise partners and present at conferences with audiences from NATO, US Department of Defense & Department of Homeland Security.

Having established a well-connected investor network in Asia, he has also taken on strategic advisory roles for a number of North American, European funds and currently sits on various boards including one under the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research & Technology (SMART) Innovation Centre.


Srividya Gopal is Managing Director & Southeast Asia Leader, Valuation Advisory Services at Duff & Phelps. She set up American Appraisal Singapore operations in 2012, which later got acquired by Duff & Phelps. 
She has over 23 years of experience in valuations, transactions and management consulting. She has advised numerous companies on valuations for the purposes of financial reporting, transaction, restructuring, taxation, dispute resolution and financing. 

She is a member of the Institute of Valuers & Appraisers of Singapore (IVAS) Council as well as the IVAS Professional Development Committee. She chairs their Advocacy & Engagement Committee. She is a former member of the global Regulatory Board of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). 

Srividya has published various thought leadership articles on valuation, PE/VC and M&A, and has been interviewed by several television channels, newspapers and magazines. She is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars. 

Srividya is a registered Chartered Valuer & Appraiser (CVA) with IVAS, Member of the RICS (MRICS) and successfully completed the Certified in Entity and Intangible Valuations (CEIV) training and examination. She also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (equivalent to MBA), is a Graduate of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India and a Bachelor of Commerce.


Steve Choi is the RICS' Global Director of Business Valuation since 2015. He is based in New York City and works within the International Standards team to ensure that policies, quality assurance and forward-looking strategies support RICS members to deliver global standards across the valuation profession.

With 17 years of experience in performing high-end valuation of businesses, business interests, and intangible assets for transactions, tax and financial reporting, and other strategic purposes, Steve has extensive experience in complex transaction advisory services associated with purchase price allocations, asset impairments, buy/sell agreements, divestitures, private equity and restructuring transactions. He has worked with clients in numerous industries including diversified industrial products, medical devices, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, consumer, retail, technology, and media and entertainment.

Steve was involved in the development of the Certified in Entity and Intangible Valuations (CEIV) credential as part of a drafting committee responsible for writing the mandatory performance framework.  This framework will be used by valuation professionals when performing fair value measurements for financial reporting purposes.  

In addition, Steve is currently working on the development of a ‘standards and professionalism’ framework to support improved business valuation practice in Hong Kong as well as similar initiatives in other regions of the world.   

Prior to joining RICS, Steve was employed by two of the big four accounting firms and a boutique consulting firm in their valuation practices.  Steve holds a Master of Business Administration in Accounting from St. John’s University and a Bachelor of Engineering from Hofstra University.


Christine Sawchuk (CPA, CA, CBV, MEd) is the President & CEO at Chartered Business Valuators (CBV) Institute, a valuation professional organization based in Toronto, Canada and a valuation leader committed to advancing excellence in business valuation. Christine has worked at CBV Institute since 2014, and has played an integral role on several of its committees and initiatives since 2008. In her position at the helm of the world-class education program for the CBV designation, Christine is responsible for ensuring that the CBV Program of Studies sets the pace for the highest-quality business valuation education, by evolving to meet the fast-changing needs of business today and leading edge developments, both domestic and international. Prior to joining CBV Institute, Christine held various senior roles in public practice valuation for over 10 years. She is presently a doctoral candidate at the University of Western Ontario in the progressive field of Educational Leadership. Christine is extensively recognized for her unwavering passion and leadership in business valuation education and promotion of the CBV designation in Canada and around the world.


Jay E. Fishman, FASA, is a Managing Director of Financial Research Associates and has been actively engaged in the appraisal profession since 1974.  He specializes in the valuations of business enterprises and their intangible assets.  Mr. Fishman has co-authored several books, including the Guide to Business Valuations (with Shannon Pratt and James Hitchner), Standards of Value (with Shannon Pratt and William Morrison), A Consensus View Q&A Guide to Financial Valuation (with James Hitchner and Shannon Pratt) and The Business Valuation Bench Book (with William Morrison). He has also written numerous articles on business valuations as well as qualifying as an expert witness and providing testimony in twelve states.  He has taught courses on business valuation to the Internal Revenue Service, the National Judicial College, the Hong Kong Society of Accountants and on behalf of the World Bank in St. Petersburg, Russia. He taught courses in Moscow, Russia and for the Slovenian Institute of Auditors in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Temple University as well as an M.B.A. from LaSalle University.  Mr. Fishman is a Fellow of the American Society of Appraisers, a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a former Chairman of the Business Valuation Committee of the American Society of Appraisers, Editor of the Business Valuation Review, Chair of ASA’s Government Relations Committee, a former Trustee of the Appraisal Foundation and former member of the Appraisal Standards Board of the Appraisal Foundation.  He finished his term as a member of the Appraisal Practice Board of the Appraisal Foundation in July 2016. He was awarded the Chairman’s Public Service Award from The Appraisal Foundation. The award was established in 2005 to recognize individuals who have worked with the Foundation for the benefit of the appraisal profession and who, in the process, have gone above and beyond the call of duty.  Mr. Fishman is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC).


Mark is a senior manager with the AICPA’s Forensic and Valuation Services section (FVS).  He joined the AICPA in 2014 and acts as the AICPA liaison to the AICPA Business Valuation Committee.  He also participated on the task force that developed the Accounting and Valuation Guide: Valuation of Portfolio Company Investments of Venture Capital and Private Equity Funds and Other Investment Companies published in June 2019, and served as one of the technical authors of the CEIV Mandatory Performance Framework Work.  

Prior to joining the AICPA Mark spent approximately 14 years as an audit professional focusing on issues related to ASC 820 Fair Value Measurements in the technology, biotech, and pension industries. 

He received his BA from St. Lawrence University and Juris Doctor from Albany Law School.
